NEXT BIG THING
Next Big THING, a division of TWWTC, proudly presented
AWAKENING
...reflections on birth, death and everything in between
Directed by Christopher Goodrich
Lighting Design by Christopher R. Hoyt
AWAKENING marked a significant contribution to our
local scene by a collection of top notch writers and actors.
The show played to sold-out houses during its brief run and offered its audiences an evening of thought-provoking
monologues, written by emerging male and female plawrights from across the country, performed by a diverse group
of exceptional local actors. NBT's mission of presenting an evening of exciting contemporary work was certainly accomplished.

In the summer of 2005, the need arose to create a producing
arm that would allow us to include the work of emerging male playwrights under our producing umbrella. TWWTC would continue
to be wholely devoted to the work of emerging female playwrights, while our new venture, Next Big THING, was
born to include all works by both genders. To introduce NBT, we wanted to begin a collaborative work with a group of
writers and actors that would focus on the theme of birth. The subject matter seemed appropriate both for the time of
year and as a mark of the birth of an explosive new group of artists. We began seeking submissions in
October of 2005 and were quickly overwhelmed with choices from artists all over the country. Following are the names
of the thirteen exceptional playwrights whose work was selected to be part of NBT's inaugural piece:
